The waste rolls down and the legs roll up. (I know, how, right?). The seam in the front gives a nice camel toe appearance, if you are into that, HA!. (I, am not). I am 5’2” 125 pounds and bought the medium because I have an athletic build. The compression is what I would expect from brooks sports, but I won’t be buying these again.
